Edible Feminisms: on discard, waste, and metabolism

The UCLA Center for the Study of Women is thrilled to be hosting a panel discussion on gender and the future of food.This panel is part of Edible Feminisms: On Discard, Waste, and Metabolism, a project organized by CSW Adjunct Assistant Professors Sarah Tracy and Rachel Vaughn.

The panel discussion will bring together scholars and activists who will offer reflections on how the past lurks in our shared food future, and what to do about it.

Confirmed panelists include:
·      Tanya Fields (Founder and Executive Director, The BLK Project)
·      Rick Nahmias(Founder and Executive Director, Food Forward LA)
·      Heather Paxson (Professor of Anthropology, MIT; author of The Life of Cheese: Crafting Food and Value in America)
·      Kyla Wazana Tompkins (Associate Professor of English and Gender and Women¹s Studies, Pomona College; author of Racial Indigestion: Eating Bodies in the 19th Century)
